It’s an unfortunate truth but hospitality on the various national and international networks always seems the last to adopt the very latest food & drinks trends. 1stClass/Business might well act a little differently but unfortunately that joy is available to so few of us.
My beef is that whilst cafes, delis, hotels, food halls, multiples (even pubs & bars!) actively attempt to move with the times, the highly influential travel sector struggles to look beyond Pringles, Coke and Maltesers.
Of course there will be ‘noise’ around economies of scale, instantly recognizable comfort food, critical profit margins……but wouldn’t it be nice if such a significant operation could lead from the front as opposed to playing catch-up, because when you operate in a sector where ‘real’ stand out isn’t easy, small improvements like the ‘snack offer’ can make a fantastic 1stimpression.
