Last week, The Food Sauce were given the opportunity to sample a selection of Southern American cuisine at Stagolee’s Hot Chicken & Liquor joint based in Fulham, South West London.
The event was an exclusive bloggers evening in celebration of National Fried Chicken Day that takes place on July 6th 2017.
We got to start the celebrations early.
Stagolee’s Hot Chicken & Liquor joint specialising in serving Southern American fiery hot-chicken and smooth bourbons are eager to lead Londoners into celebrating with 2 for 1 Chicken Platters throughout the day.
This soulful culture and Southern American theme runs throughout the venue giving a feeling of warmth upon the intimate venues surroundings as shown throughout the timeless portraits of people dining, eating, drinking the days and nights away.
Flashback to the founder’s family lineage and welcoming Londoners in setting the scene bringing Southern America to London.
The journey working our way throughout the menu started with a selection of their snacks such as Devilled eggs alongside hot spinach dip which is cheesy spinach & artichoke dip served with tortilla chips.
Pimento cheese spread; cheesy Pimento cheddar cheese spread- The Cavier of the South.
We also got the chance to try some of their Mac & Cheese; Baked Macaroni Cheese an American classic as it is a combination of Gruyere and Mature cheddar baked leaving you with a crispy top and cheesy centre…. delicious.
For mains we had skillet fried chicken Brined, dipped in buttermilk and fried to perfection.

Lets not forget the desserts aimed especially for those with a sweet tooth.
We had Donuts; butter biscuit dough fried in sugar.
Of course there was also a selection of bespoke cocktails to wash this delicious food down too.
It is refreshing to see a proper traditional South American eatery descend onto our South West London shores displaying “food from the heart” rather than the “same old run of the mill” chained restaurants on every high street in all major towns and cities.
