One of the ‘hot topics’ that we feel very strongly about is how small companies access financial/mentor support during their formative years.
Food & drink is a subject that plays to this nation’ strengths, whilst the new commitment to healthier living means there’s never been a better time for sincere and highly motivated small business to make its mark.
Banks, as we all suspect, are intuitively ‘conservative’ beasts and whilst promising initiatives like the NatWest Entrepreneur Accelerator scheme are gaining traction, we’d like to spend a few moments whooping up the strengths of the Seed Fund (yes we know the perfect support for Seed Snacks)that we were lucky enough to be part of in 2018.
The Seed Fund isn’t about money albeit its advice would cost a small fortune to seek out. The academy provides invaluable opportunities to share ideas and business challenges with a team of industry experts and an eclectic huddle of ‘foodpreneurs’ setting out on similar journeys.
The Seed Fund hosts all manner of talks, events and mentoring sessions throughout the summer months and a far-reaching agenda covers every imaginable topic from: raising investment, creating a remarkable brand, understanding consumers, sales and pricing strategy, distribution advice, PR, recruiting and legal advice. It even includes the odd industry visit and some fabulous guest speakers.
It’s refreshing to know that such organisations actively exist and for whose wise counsel we’ll be extremely grateful for.
